Welcome to our Women's Shed, a space for women to create, skillshare, learn, repair and build. We hope to have our own shed by 2027. Serving Ararat and surrounds in Western Victoria and Wimmera, from peaks to plains. On the doorstep of the Gariwerd Grampians. Member of the Australian Women's Shed Association.

Ararat Women’s Shed memberships are now open! We are offering $50 per year memberships until we get a full-time shed.

We know there are some very skilled people around the greater Ararat area. If you would like to share your skills by teaching a workshop, we would love to hear from you. Workshop facilitators can either volunteer or be paid (contractor). Contact us with your workshop idea.

The Ararat Women’s Shed is run entirely by volunteers, and we currently have positions open for committee members (both general and specialist). If you’d like to get involved as a volunteer in any way, please contact us.

We are creating a shed from scratch and have a big wishlist of equipment and materials we’d love. If you have donations, or items available cheaply, please get in touch. We’re looking for everything from sewing machines to power drills and timber. We would also partner up on fundraisers.

Donations help fund us and get our programs up and running, and every dollar will help us grow. We are in the process of gaining accreditation as a registered charity, and once we’re good to go, we’ll gratefully accept cash donations.

The Ararat Women’s Shed is here for our community, and our members, first and foremost. We’d love to hear your ideas on what you’d like to see us do, put on, share and purchase for our shed. We’ve currently got a survey open here, so tell us what you think.

Operate and maintain chainsaws
Expressions of interest open
We are bringing a nationally recognised chainsaw training day to Ararat. This is a one day course with a maximum of 5 in a group.

Stitch, Knit, Don't Quit!

Our own take on a stitching circle, stitch n bitch, stitch n sip…. Whatever your flavour of hand-held craft! Ararat Gallery TAMA to host a monthly get-together from 5:30pm to 8:30pm.

Committee Meetings
Committee meetings are on the first Tuesday of every month and are held at Federation Uni Australia - Ararat Campus at 3 / 5 Laby Street, Ararat. Doors open at 5:00pm and meeting starts at 5:30pm.
The Shed in the media
The Ararat Women’s Shed team has been working hard at getting word about the Shed out there, and have been so delighted by the support from our local media, across radio, print and online. This is so our community members hear about us and can know what we’re up to, and how we can support them.
